It’s nice to meet you.
I’m Carolyn. I’m a higher ed enrollment leader and experience designer. I’m interested in the power of human-centered design thinking, research + storytelling to exceed peoples’ expectations.
My professional story starts as a child witness to my depression-era grandfather inventing new tools out of empty pickle jars. His resourceful creativity is a part of my early learning and perhaps my DNA. And it’s threaded through my professional career in higher education where I’ve pursued learning in design thinking to augment the content strategist, art director, researcher, consultant and enrollment leader hats that hang in my professional wardrobe.
Today, I’ll call myself an experience designer to summarize my work. Which is to say, I combine research findings with human psychology, design thinking, and storytelling to innovate new products, processes, environments, and strategies that meet peoples’ needs and exceed their expectations. I’m working on a second Master’s degree in this area to complement my prior study of writing and higher education.
My professional work is all about designing better experiences for colleges and universities and the students they serve.
Let’s discuss:
Elevating student access to higher education and the power of education to transform lives
Effective strategies for designing compelling content that communicate principles with simplicity and elegance
Design thinking and becoming a design thinker
Research methodologies and the cultivation of evidence
Combining research findings with human psychology to innovate new products, processes, environments, and strategies that meet peoples’ needs and exceed their expectations
Essentialism, Stoicism, and other principles that maximize joy.
